A Taste of Alive and Well
By The Alive and Well Women Team
Alive and Well Women’s Open House and Introductory Workshop was a total success! On Saturday, February 11 women from all walks of life gathered together for a taste of the loving, empowering, and compassionate sisterhood that Alive and Well Women aims to foster. We met at John Aaroe Group in Pasadena and enjoyed a delicious brunch provided by True Food Kitchen Pasadena. Our time together began with an introduction to the AWW non-profit. Cissy Brady-Rogers shared the story of how her passion for creating an environment where women could be encouraged to love, trust, and accept their bodies blossomed. Cissy’s long time friend and co-founder, Betsy Faber, also shared a vision of women’s empowerment.
While enjoying a delicious meal, we shared our stories about what brought us to AWW. We were asked to envision a young girl we know and love and to share with one another our hopes and dreams for her. Then we discussed the enormous negative impact societal messages about health, beauty and sexuality have on all of us, at every age – especially how they can disempower girls from following their dreams. Choosing to love ourselves can positively impact our own lives and it can also impact the young women who look to us as examples. As some wise person has said: You can’t be what you can’t see!
Here at AWW we believe that when women come together to share their strengths and weaknesses it only makes us stronger! The energy in the room was exciting, refreshing and magnetic. After the event, we asked some women what they enjoyed about the event and here is what they said:
“I enjoyed being in a group that was a safe space of likeminded women.”
“It was nice to be reminded that we can help ourselves and that community is available. We’re not alone!”
Alive and Well Women seeks to be the kind of community that fosters this self-love. If you’d like to be a part of this growing community of women, ready to come alongside you as we learn to love ourselves and love others, we’d love to see you at our next event. We hope to see you soon!

At A Taste of Alive and Well we enjoyed True Food Kitchen’s garden scramble, farmer’s market crudities and kale guacamole.
